Lewisburg, WV - Healing Appalachia - 2023

Lewisburg, WV
West Virginia State Fairgrounds

‍ ‍Preface: Our first Healing Appalachia and we’re on the way to Red Rocks!!!‍ ‍

Show Notes: Holy smokes! We’ve been missing out on this festival. What a great place and environment! Anyone who’s never been to Healing Appalachia MUST make it ASAP!
The show itself was another top-tier experience as we’re coming to expect now. The setlist included Her and the Banks again, which is our favorite song to see live at this point! Outside of that the setlist was inclusive of several fan favorites like All Your’n and House Fire. But, the setlist also sprinkled in some really upbeat and jamming songs like Tulsa Turnaround, Trudy, and Purgatory!
The guys didn’t miss a beat here, either. They were at the top of their game and it seems as if this is expected each night since we’re yet to see them miss at any show!
Tyler Childers is a co-owner of Healing Appalachia and we suspect this has a lot to do with why this set seemed to bring more energy than some other we’ve seen. We’ll 100% go back to this festival each year!‍

Venue Notes: Chloe actually has some family in the area so she’d been here previously for the fair and she says that the venue is set up very similar for each event. Our opinion was that it was almost perfect. The parking wasn’t too far away and once inside the venue everything was spread out enough that you could easily move around and check out all the vendors and food.
The layout is almost shaped like a “U” where the stage is in the center of the opening and all the vendors are surrounding the crowd. There’s no amount of words we can say to do the justice this venue needs for their amazing layout and how well thought-out this place is!

Parking Notes: Parking is super simple and right across the street from the entrance. All you do is pull into the parking area, find a spot, and then walk about a quarter mile to get to the venue. It’s free and easy! Our favorite kind!‍ ‍

Travel Notes: The route we take for this one really only passes one thing of note and that’s the Tamarack Marketplace in Beckley, WV. This is a local place that we will always suggest checking out as it is almost directly off the interstate and they’re open every day from 9am until 7pm. The Tamarack Marketplace houses local art, restaurants, and much more! Stop by and check it out, it only cost if you buy something!

‍ ‍Bonus: This was was really special for Chloe as well because for as long as she can remember her and her family have been doing to the state fair which is held on the same grounds. They go every summer and her grandma even enters her quilts and cross stitches into the state fair contest each year! And, you know she’s brought home that blue ribbon several years!
Chloe’s brother has even been part of the photo capturing contest; which is a contest where photographers try to capture the beauty of West Virginia in a photo.
For Chloe and the family the fun doesn’t stop there. Each year the state fair hosts concerts and Chloe’s first ever concert was there! Her and her mom saw Travis Tritt!
Chloe felt very warm and comforted at this festival and it was pleasant for us to experience this together because so many things this festival supports and raises awareness for hit very close to home for us. You can sense throughout the whole festival that they truly care about the things they’re talking about and you can feel that the organizers and promoters really do offer a helping hand to those who feel like they’ve lost hope.
Healing Appalachia holds a special place in our hearts as one of the best festivals in the country and a festival where you really feel like your money is going to the right causes.
