Preface: For the first time the Stamp Tramps are seeing Tyler Childers and the Food Stamps in their home state!
Show Notes: FANTASTIC! For the first time we saw Tyler Childers and the Food Stamps at a headlining set and not just a festival.
What an amazing experience. A loaded setlist both nights including some of our personal favorites like Peace of Mind, Deadman’s Curve, Her and the Banks, and Heart You’ve Been Tendin’, was just the cherry on top!
Night two also saw an opening with Old Country Church were Tyler came out with Clyde Wood, a nearly 100 year old man who’s a family friend of Tyler’s. This was then followed by the same song but with just Tyler and the band playing. It was a great intro to kick of night two and was certainty something unique!
Night two we actually bumped into CJ Cain after the show and said hello and let him know we’d also be heading to Red Rocks. He was kind enough to stop and talk to us about this for a couple of minutes.
Both nights were absolutely packed and we were in the lawn both nights. The show was unmatched and seemed much more intimate than either of our previous shows which seemed to be spread out and with about triple the amount of people at each.
Skyla was an amazing venue for the fellas to play as they were able to jam everything out while the sound was perfect even at the back of the lawn! The sound being great is something we’re becoming accustomed to at this point and it seems as if their crew really has this dialed in!
Venue Notes: Skyla is a great venue, it’s an easy walk from the parking lot, has ample signage, tons of area in the lawn, and a great setup to the left of the venue where you can find food and drinks.
Skyla is actually one of the better venues in the entire state of North Carolina in our opinion and it is able to house smaller acts with no issues as well as huge acts. It doesn’t have any bad views even from the lawn and from the lawn you don’t feel far away either.
Our personal experience was that the people working the venue were very nice and courteous and willing to go above and beyond to help you when needed.
Also, one of our favorite things at any venue is when they provide free water refills which Skyla did!
Parking Notes: Parking literally couldn’t be easier. You park across the street either in a parking deck or in a ground level parking lot, and walk less than a quarter mile to entre the venue. While it does cost $25 you can’t beat the location and unless you arrive as the headliner is about to start you should have no issues finding open spots. A+ on the parking situation here!
Travel Notes: To be honest since this was a close show for us it was just a straight shot there with no stops. Womp! Womp!
