June 4th, 2023
Lexington, KY
The Infield at Red Mile

Preface: For only the 2nd time ever the Stamp Tramps were going to see Tyler Childers and the Food Stamps! And tagging along were Daniel’s parents and brother!

Daniel, Dad and Ryan

Show Notes: Where to begin wit this one? The setlist was top notch, something that won’t be matched for along time! Going Home? Check. Oneida for the first time this tour? Check. Her and the Banks? Check. Tom Turkey (a Charley Crockett cover)? Check. Ending with an emotional Sour Mash? Check.
Waiting in the warm weather all day was well worth the wait as the fellas absolutely brought their best to this one!
Prior to the band taking the stage there was an announcement that June 4th will forever be ‘Tyler Childers’ Day in Lexington Kentucky! This only heightened the excitement from the crowd.
As they took the stage you could just feel the energy rising through the crowd who were all seemingly there for Tyler Childers and the Food Stamps. The guys seemed to take note of this and proceeded to play over an hour and a half of sheer magical music. Their hometown show was the cherry on top of an amazing day of music!‍ ‍

Venue Notes: The Infield at Red Mile is nothing short of great. The walk to the venue is for all intents and purposes flat and easy to traverse. Once you’re at the actual festival grounds you’re greeted with tons of entrances and metal detectors which streamline the entry process.
After this super fast entrance you’re met with a huge open area which is pretty much the ideal setup for a festival. The main stage is off to your left and sits slightly lower than the ground where you can find merch, food, drinks and bathrooms. This is ideal for people who want to hangout in the back of the crowd because it gives an elevated view above others who are closer.
The other stages are off to the right and are spread out enough to not have noise bleed or crowd bleed either. Everything is well spaced including the ample amount of food and beverage vendors and merch booths.
The grounds are also mainly grass around the stages which helps keep down on dust but the areas to and from the gates are pretty dusty. If you’re really sensitive to dust we’d suggest wearing a mask until you get to where you’re going to stand for the shows.‍ ‍

Parking Notes: We are extremely blessed to have a local connection which allowed us to park less than half a mile away for free so our take on parking should be taken with a grain of salt as it wasn’t our experience. But, we’ve heard parking here is quite difficult and for most requires a walk of well over a mile to and from the venue.
Additionally, we’ve heard that parking cost quite a bit more than average here.‍ ‍

Travel Notes: For this one we made it basically a straight shot from NC to KY with very limited stops. Daniel’s family isn’t much on stopping to take in random roadside attractions so it was much more fast food and gas stations than anything else. Something of note that is pretty cool is that you do go over the Big Sandy River going from NC to KY so you might want to take the time to stop and grab a photo if you’re fond of Her and the Banks.
In Lexington itself there’s a vintage store called POPS Resale which is one of the better used vinyl stores you’ll find in the country; they’ve even had exclusive Tyler Childers records only available there (those go quickly so if they do this again be on top of it)!
