Lexington, KY
Kroger Field

Preface: Kroger Field is the biggest venue in Lexington, KY and April 19th, 2025, Tyler Childers and the Food Stamps sold it out! We knew as soon as the tour dropped we had to make this show (NEVER MISS A LEXINGTON SHOW) and it didn’t disappoint! ‍

The Stamp Tramps enjoying the show at Kroger Field!

Show Notes: I mean I guess we have to start it off talking about the obvious, right? The first time Jersey Giant has ever been played with the Food Stamps!?
We couldn’t believe our eyes, or ears, when the first lick came across the speakers. It was within seconds the entire crowd lit up knowing what they were seeing.
Jersey Giant is a song that Tyler Childers wrote years ago which had gained popularity through its countless covered and Tik-Tok fame. Never once did the idea of this song being played ever cross our minds.
As we were watching the show we did note that prior to the song Tyler had a new guitar with him which we hadn’t seen so we were anticipating something different but never this.
The way the crowd reacted to this song can only be compared to Way of the Triune God being played at Red Rocks; it was an instant party in the stands!
This alone was enough to make the price of admission worth it but during the acoustic set we got Bottles and Bibles!
Anyone who knows Daniel knows that Bottles and Bibles is his favorite Tyler Childers album and any song we get to see played off of it holds a special place to us - but Bottles and Bibles is not only on that album (obviously) but it’s also in Daniel’s top 5 favorite Tyler Childers songs, too.
Honestly, the way this crowd was rocking the whole night the setlist didn’t matter too much, It’s been the similar setlist we’ve been seeing for awhile where they rely on hits and fan favorites to do the lifting and then throwing in random songs which flex the bands muscles.
Tulsa Turnaround, which we’re sure you’re all tired of hearing about at this point, was played again to lead into the acoustic set and this song is absolutely jammed out and shredded live!
In all seriousness this was a show where the crowd knew every word to every song and were just happy to be in the same place with each other. This is 100% the type of crowd and show that Tyler is talking about when he mentions taking time to meet and fellowship with people.
Hats off to you, the crowd at Kroger Field, for an amazing night and environment!
Oh yeah, there was a massive drone show in the middle of the concert too! Only the second on in Tyler Childers and the Food Stamps history. It was a sight to behold and you should do yourself the favor and check it out on YouTube!

The second ever drone show at a Tyler Childers and the Food Stamps show! The first was in Boulder, CO!

Venue Notes: Kroger Field is an elite football stadium. It’s absolutely jaw dropping how many people can fit into what feels like a smaller stadium. It’s not small, it just feels small which bodes well for having room to move around but also feel like you’re at a smaller show than you are.
The venue is obviously made for college football so it has plenty of restrooms, merch areas, and concessions. You won’t be lacking on any of those fronts.
Kroger Field is also used to housing these huge events and the concourse reflects this with tons of open area to move around and not be in the way of others. This is something every venue in the world could learn from!‍ ‍

Parking Notes: We parked close to 2 miles away, which is further away than we usually like. However it was only $20 and supported a local church so we didn’t mind having to get in a couple extra steps.
Since we saved some money on parking we decided to get a ride from one of the many people on bicycles offering rides to the front door. This is well worth it if you’re looking to save a lot of time instead of walking. But, the people who run these always tell you ‘it’s up to you’ how much it cost. We always make sure to give these people what we think is fair for the ride.
The walk back wasn’t as fun as the ride there but since everyone was leaving at the same time it was a slow walk and didn’t feel nearly as long as it actually was. ‍ ‍

Travel Notes: For this we reached out to some locals and got advice on what to do while in the city. We checked out POPS Resale which is a vintage resale shop that sales anything from vinyl records to clothing.
POPS was also hosting the Tyler Childers merch pop up where we bought a few mystery merch bags for $35 each. All 3 of the ones we bought had at least 3 shirts. One had a lighter, two others has some koozies, and two of them had Tyler Childers branded fishing bobbers.
We also took advice from a local and ate at Blue Door Smokehouse. While we know the best BBQ comes from another Lexington this was no slough! This place is a MUST eat at while you’re in town!
We did the pulled pork on one plate and the BBQ chicken on the other and both were amazing! The ranch beans and collard greens were also a great addition. Honestly their sides menu is as impressive as their meats menu. Try everything you can!‍ ‍
