‍ ‍Preface: The first show of the tour! You knew we had to show up!

Tyler Childers’ On the Road Tour

Show Notes: The hype for this one had been on our minds since the last show of 2024.
The hype only increased when the band played Gemini third over all in the setlist and then followed it with Tulsa Turnaround!
Both of these songs will always be mentioned by us because of how unique they are to any set they find their way into.
Gemini is a hidden gem of a song that finds its way onto the setlist far less often than Tulsa Turnaround, so anytime you’re seeing it in person you’ve been blessed.
Tulsa Turnaround seemingly finds itself on setlists fairly often at this point but that doesn’t change how great this song is to see live. The first time or the tenth time seeing it live is just a reminder of how amazing the Food Stamps are!
Shortly after Space and Time was played with S.G. Goodman! This is a song that Tyler and the guys cover and to see them play with the person who wrote it was great! It was clear they all share admiration for S.G. and it shines when they play this song together.
The acoustic set left nothing to be desired. Shake the Frost, Lady May, Bottles and Bibles, Nose on the Grindstone, Follow You to Virgie, and Matthew!
Bottles and Bibles is nothing short of magical to see live. At this point we’d seen it a couple of times but each time it gets better! One of Daniel’s all time favorite songs, Bottles and Bibles, is always welcomed to any setlist in our opinion!
Then to cap off the acoustic set we get to see Matthew?!?!?! Are you kidding me?! Matthew is a song that RARELY makes setlists these days and we never in a million years ever expected to see it live! Matthew in and of itself is worth the price of tickets to see the guys!
Matthew is a story telling song about a veteran who is working a job as a security guard protecting missiles. In typical Tyler fashion the story is much deeper and tells about the day to day life of Matthew. Its a song you have to listen to ASAP if you’ve never heard it.
The remainder of the setlist was a refined version of what we’d seen on the last tour; a hit and fan favorite heavy setlist curated to get the fans involved!‍ ‍

Tyler Childers and the Food Stamps

Venue Notes: The Smoothie King Center is great! It has tons of room to move around in the concourse and had plenty of merch and concession options!
We didn’t eat at the venue but we can say that in passing we saw plenty of options that were fairly priced - at least for a concert.
The venue is also filled with plenty of sports related things for any sports fans. As home of the New Orleans Pelicans there are plenty of displays to highlight the team and the NBA. Make sure to check them out!‍ ‍

Parking Notes: Parking here was super simple once we found out where our parking pass was for. We had to ask a guard to point us in the right direction because signage was very limited.
Once parked we were right across the street from the entrance and paid $40. It was one of the best prices we’d paid to park this close.
We used the Smoothie King Center’s parking information page to find the deck we parked in and we’d recommend checking their information out so you can find a parking spot that fits your needs and budget. ‍ ‍

Travel Notes: We had to work the day before the show and two days after the show so our travel experience was FAST!
On this route we went through Atlanta which is a city we’d typically send more time in and enjoy the rich culture there or catch a sporting event. So our advice is if you’re in Atlanta do yourself the favor and check out some museums or a sporting event!
